The Arch of Triumph was build in 1878, to celebrate the just gained Independence of Romania. The first Triumphal arch was built up quickly for the Romanian troops to march through after the just won war. However, it was rebuilt after WW I in 1922 and redecorated between 1935 and 1936. This is the current Arcul de Triumf in Bucharest.

The Triumphal Arch of Bucharest was designed by Petre Antonescu. Its height is 27 meter, while the foundations measure 25 x 11.5 meters. During night it is illuminated and provides the tourist with one of the most beautiful images of Bucharest at night.
