Click the image to see it full size. GDP per capita at current prices in Romania belongs to the very lowest of the EU. Only Bulgaria features a lower per capita GDP than Romania does. Nearly 50% of the population live in a rural environment and some 10% of the labor force are occupied in the agricultural sector. Without a massive shift of the production profile their are few prospects to better the situation soon. Some economic centers, though, do much better than aggregate indicators suggest.
