Click the image to see it full size. The GDP per capita of Romania as expressed at PPS – Purchasing Power Standards. Even with this indicator the Romanian GDP is still among the lowest of Europe. I have never been a big fan of PPS calculations as most modern goods of interest and tradable and subject to the law of one price. However, domestic services are indeed considerably cheaper. On the other hand, real estate prices are by no means related to the average income in Romania, prices for food, electronics and other tradable goods are rather the same as in other European countries.
